Urban Play Cartographies:
Material Encounters, Haptic Ethnography and Digital Wayfaring

Larissa Hjorth,
Distinguished Professor (RMIT University) and Visiting Professor (Center for the Study of CO* Design, Osaka University)
2019年7月 1日(月) 16:20~17:50

令和元年度新任教員研修プログラム/FY 2019 Faculty Development Program

Increasingly urban spaces are becoming contested with hybrid, haptic play--a digital wayfaring that reimagines the material and social.
This phenomenon requires that we revise our methods, especially in terms of the possibility of ethnography and creative practice.
Through this reconfiguration, urban spaces become incubators for designing for play, sociality, and wellbeing.

In this interdisciplinary workshop, we explore urban play cartographies through concepts such as digital wayfaring
and methods such as haptic ethnography.
Bringing multisensorial and multispecies approaches to urban play we will then design in groups urban games that respond to
site-specific or social issues you think are important.

Please bring ideas for urban games that involve material encounters and digital wayfaring and let's brainstorm!
