1 What are your Educational Activities at the Center for the Study of Co*Design?

I am in charge of the Cross-Boundary Innovation (CBI) doctoral program run in cooperation with the Co*Design Center. I offer courses on Systems Thinking, Case Study for Problem Solving, Field-based Projects, etc.

2 What Research are you involved in?

My research interests relate to the reciprocal process of transformation of the human body and modern society. I undertake anthropological research in the field of science and technology, especially focused on the medical use of the human body (e.g. organ transplantation). Concurrently, I also carry out research on shrinking communities in Japan and the implication of population decline for the transformation of society.

3 What are your activities with institutions and people outside the center?

I am conducting project based learning courses in collaboration with various social actors: NGOs, local governments, private companies, etc. As an anthropologist, I am usually engaged in field research and work with people outside of the university campus.
